Honestly, it took me a while to muster the interest and watch the final episode. I have read several reviews that the ending is not what they wanted. I thought it would be another disappointing ending when after all the struggles and trials, the main leads would break up or worse, one of them would perish.

Fortunately, it was not the case. In fact, I love how the ending of this series emphasizes the power of love over ambition, and sacrifice over self-preservation. It shows us that ultimate power can only be harnessed in the presence of true love and selflessness. It also gives us hope that even enemies can combine forces to achieve the common good and that at the end of the day, what matters is a peaceful kingdom for everyone to enjoy.

There are many wonderful characters in this story. I especially like the character of Prince Jing who consistently showed brotherly love and support to our mail lead Prince Lanxi. As much as there are sibling rivalries in the political arena, there are also heartwarming filial love and tacit understanding that family and honor are more important than anything else in the world.

I would like to point out also that Prince Lanxi's power and influence are reminiscent of that of Lin Shu in Nirvana in Fire. The scope of their network and support system make them always three steps ahead of the others. For me, it feels good to have the main lead that is in control rather than one who is always suffering from indignity and injustice. It is of course a huge plus factor that our male lead is such a treat to the eyes that you would never tire of waiting for his smile to appear. He looks so endearing when acting jealous and possessive and he is always there to protect or rescue his lady love.

Then there is also love that surpasses understanding. The kind that is unwavering despite repeated rejections. And support and loyalty that not even the threat of death can make a difference.

Overall, 40 episodes for Who Rules The World is really not too much. In fact, I would be willing to enjoy another 10 episodes or so watching Prince Lanxi. Princess Xiyun is not lacking in the beauty department whatsoever and also a talent to be reckon with. So, start watching this series and be prepared to experience a world of martial arts and powerful love.
