For some inexplicable reason, I do not fancy the female lead in this series. I cannot see anything special about the character. The male lead is a bit better but still so-so. The rest of the characters may be ok but still there's some kind of x-factor that I could not see so the overall effect is a bit mundane for me.

Anyway, the plot is quite simple- a rich guy meets a poor girl and by a bizarre twist of fate they end up needing each other for business purposes. Subsequent episodes would show them slowly but surely falling hopelessly in love. A second male lead also gives the story a bit of excitement plus there was this other girl, who makes things interesting and challenging. Sorry for this spoiler but perhaps the redeeming part of this series is the romantic, happy ending.

It is important to note though that this Chinese drama has a good interplay of friendships, family support and the recognition of raw talent no matter the circumstance. I also like the fact that the guy is always ready to stand up for her beloved, never doubting her sincerity and always believing the best in her. I guess that is one relatable thing about being in a relationship. The idea that our partner should always put us first, the number one priority, no matter the circumstance. I think that is the best way to prove a person's love. It is also worth mentioning that scene when the female lead was trying to find out who could be the one for her. She came to the realization that despite all the negative traits of the male lead, he is still the one who could make her heart sing.

ONCE WE GET MARRIED can be enjoyable if you're into the romcom genre. For me though, I would rather watch a historical/ fantasy series which can regale me with the richness of time and the limitless possibilities this world can offer. So, just make your choice and enjoy.
