When your destiny is to save the world and your beloved decides that his destiny is to save you, what do you do?
Mortals in most cases feel overwhelmed with day to day decisions in life. Somehow though these decisions will always be influenced by our faith and values in life, the traditions passed down across generations and our personal biases. Whether we are aware of that or not does not matter at all as our reflexes respond to situations before we can think about them logically.
Based on this story, this state of affairs is not limited to mortals. Immortals and those from the moon tribe exist for millennia hating each other and wishing for each other's extinction. What is surprising though is that their founding parents used to be in love with each other. Apparently, the male partner betrayed the female and so they separated in hate and established laws against each other's tribes for their descendants to follow. The incessant wars that eventually followed sealed the deal.
And so our main leads fought so many obstacles so they could be together because Dongcang Qingcang, the lead male is the Moon Supreme (leader) of the moon tribe while Orchid, the female lead was thought to be from the Immortals of heaven. She is in fact, the Goddess Xiyun in hiding but her tribe has always been neutral in the fight between the two tribes.
Now this story is fraught with impressive supernatural fights, massive powers that are reserved for the few ones and a love that lasted hundreds and thousands of years- across time, distance and realms. Fight for power and positions are minimally incorporated here. What's good is the transforming power of true love that makes a person better and always steer one to protect the person he loves.
Loyalty and inclusive friendships are also evident in this series. It does not matter where you came from or what your position in life is. What matters is sincerity and the respect for life.
It was an amazing scene when the immortals in heaven and the people from the moon tribe joined hands to defeat Taisui, the ancient evil God. When what's at stake is all of the three realms then there is no better way than to be united.
And no better way to face imminent death that with a parting kiss from your most beloved.
Frankly, the male lead portrayed by Dylan Wang is as impressive a devil as anyone could ever be. He has showcased his talent in this series with a flair that can make you remember him in dreams and waking hours as well. He has made another fan in me and I will now be seeking for his other works and will look forward to his future projects.
