GUARDIANS OF THE DAFENG

Dylan Wang has portrayed numerous characters already and this Xu Qian seems to me like it was written especially for him. I cannot imagine anyone else doing this particular role. His rendition is so natural and realistic. He just made my "fangirling" increase a knot or two higher.

His female lead, Princess Lin An portrayed by Tan Xi Wei, is a no-no for me at first. Too much sweetness, clumsiness and irresponsibility in her acting that it would irritate the viewers. I thought it was supposed to be funny but the effect is really not the case. Towards the end though, she would endear you with her fierce loyalty, unwavering support to our hero and generosity towards his family.

This Sci-Fi historical series will bring you to a world of possibilities, of power and magic, other dimensions and existence, and all things human in between. It would remind us that all the choices we make in the past will somehow affect the present and the future. We really need to be responsible then for our decisions so the law of cause and effect cannot harm us.

I think the best lesson we can get from this story is to always be good to everyone. Try to never burn bridges or become disloyal especially to people who matter the most. I am sure you have heard of this before but indeed the very people you meet going up will be the same people you meet going down. So always choose to be good and do good.

It is also imperative to find your true purpose but not knowing what it is in the beginning should not deter you from moving forward. Life will always bring us to the end that is meant for us, not necessarily what we wanted.

Speaking of ending, Guardians of the Dafeng was a bit disappointing after the build up of the last few episodes. It leaves us hanging, wanting more and looking for answers and closures that were not provided. Hopefully this means that there will be a second season? Let's all wait for that.
