FIGHTS BREAK SPHERE

Leo Wu, even at a very young age, is already a superb actor. One that can carry tv series like this with ease and flair. His presence in every scene can bring focus to the character of Xiao Yan regardless of who else is in the picture.

I just could shake off the similarities of FIGHTS BREAK SPHERE to the Harry Potter series in terms of supernatural elements in the plot, the coming back of evil, the school setting and the presence of friends and foes alike. They also both became orphans at some point in the story. They both became a focus on some sort of prophecy. Each was known weak at the start and suddenly became powerful as problems after problems beset them. Internal strife within sects also became a common denominator and the fight between good and evil has been muddled.

Fights Break Sphere is a more complicated story though. Some nuances might even be lost to me as the English translation might not be totally accurate. The lead star is more handsome too (forgive my biases) and utterly deserving of accolades for his performance here and in his other movies and series alike.

Anyhow, I would like to make mention of the great love the parents of the main lead showed through their sacrifices to keep him safe. Xiao Yan's filial love towards his parents is also worthy of emulation and saving the dignity of his clan name became a life purpose that could not be deterred even with all the responsibilities that later on came his way.

Values of loyalty, true friendships and perseverance in the face of challenges are points in this series that we should all ponder and reflect on how we can apply them in our lives. They would truly make our lives more meaningful.

Just like in real life though, some villains in this series actually wore sheep's clothing and it was such a surprise even to me at the end. Overall, this has been worth watching and would certainly find a place in your heart.
