A FEMALE STUDENT ARRIVES AT THE IMPERIAL COLLEGE

I had high hopes for this series because of Zhao Lusi. There are just actors and actresses that you know would only bring out the best in each series and she is certainly one of them.

When I was in the middle part though, things started to get boring and sorry to say the this is the first time that I struggled to find the chemistry between the lead couple that starred Lusi. She is after all the Queen of Chemistry in Chinese dramas. I actually started watching another series and just came back to this after I finished that one.

Nevertheless, I have to give credit to the storyline and the cultural significance of it. This story reminds us that women has to be given equal rights and opportunities in any society because as human beings, we have the same faculties and abilities- albeit in differing degrees, but still it is a disgrace and a disadvantage to our society if we do not let women also contribute when and where they can.

Let me not forget to mention that the second male lead is such a cutie. He is not particularly very handsome but he has an x-factor that could catapult him to stardom given the right project and timing. Even his little changes in expression somehow delivers the right kind of atmosphere and emotion for the specific scene. His character may be depicted as a greedy, ambitious person in this series but he somehow captured my heart with the love and sacrifices he bestowed on our leading lady despite her constant rejection. I really felt sad that he had to exit this existence in the end. I hope he would find his happy ending in another series. I would surely be on the lookout for it.

I admired, though, the friendships forged in this story. The kind that goes beyond death and those friends that we know we can always count on no matter the situation. Filial piety is also present and values of consistency, steadfastness and creativity. The main couple, being harbingers of change, does not hurt either.

All in all, I would rate this 6 out of 10 for reasons I could not really explain. I just felt my time wasted despite all the good factors present in this story. Then again, this is a subjective view of things and you might feel otherwise. So as always, it's your choice my friend.
